AFFILIATE TERMS

I have previously defined the term Affiliate marketing but let me quote and put it this way again. Affiliate Marketing is an online method of generating income by selling goods and services to different customers or surfers from the original sellers. This means that if a sale is generated through your affiliate link gotten from the company you sign up with, you get a commission. This commission varies depending on what the merchant to merchant or products. The commission will be known before sign up. Your commission could range from 6% to 75% or could be in dollars.

Affiliate Market Methods

Pay Per Click (PPC)
This is a method where you get paid for every clicks generated from your sites. To generate income through this method, you need to have a web site/blog. The biggest Pay Per Click (PPC) Company out there is Google AdSense. To get started you get an ad code from Google and you add it any area on your site. After that, the next thing you need is traffic on your site. If your site is rich in content, you will definitely get clicks on those ads. The ads that will be displayed by Google on your site will be relevant to the contents on your site. So visitors might be interested on the products that is been advertised. There are other many other PPC company out there as well but I advice you start with Google adSense.

Cost Per Action (CPA)
Different companies pay their affiliates for different CPA’s made from their referrals or affiliates. CPA could be in different forms namely:

Lead - You get paid a fixed rate when a visitor simply completes a free registration form or enters some details. Leads could be filling of membership form or survey forms and other types of form.

Sale - You get paid a fixed rate or percentage after every successful sale though your affiliate link.

There are other terms used in affiliate marketing. There is another one I will not fail to mention.

Pay Per Install (PPI) - Where a user must install a toolbar and you get a certain dollar as commission for it.

The other side of PPC is when you as a person want to advertise your affiliate link or site though some advertisers. For example if you are using Google or Yahoo to promote your link or site, you will then be paying the advertiser a certain amount per click on the link. Other post will show you how to get started. Success is yours.
